Accessories
I am not fond of either hats or hoods. When I lived in Germany and Kansas (which was colder than where I had lived in Germany), I owned a purple knit dickie that was a hood and coincidentally owned a knit runner's headband in the same color.
A runner's headband is wider in some parts than others so you can cover your forehead or something.
Anyway, I wore them together. It looked good and was wonderfully warm. I liked the setup better than any other hooded item I've ever had and it was surprisingly effective for keeping me warm without feeling overburdened.
I would like to recreate this and improve upon it. I didn't really like that it was two pieces so I'm wondering if I can make something similar in one piece.
Now the original intent behind this thought was not to create a hijab but I began wondering if people who wear hijabs would look at that and go "It's a hijab! -- or close enough!"
So one day I asked someone I ran into in a public bathroom a few questions about hijabs in addition to looking at some info online. I still have a long way to go to educate myself, but I'm thinking this would probably appeal to Muslim women as a means to have a career wardrobe with matching hijabs which would somewhat unintentionally make this line more inclusive.
Dickies can also be used to provide extra warmth and alternate necklines. You could add a turtleneck to a jewel neckline top for example.
This would be a potentially inexpensive means to broaden a wardrobe and make it more appealing to people in colder climates.
