Fit

When I asked people about pain points of online clothes shopping, a common complaint was that people felt they absolutely had to try pieces on in order to make sure they fit, in part because the clothing industry seems to have no actual standard sizing worked out.

My mother sews beautifully. She trained with a tailor in her youth and spent years making good money working from home as a seamstress.

For something like the first eight or ten years of my oldest son's life, my mother provided most of the clothes my two kids owned even though my ex was career military and we lived far from my hometown.

She made a lot of it herself. I simply took measurements and my mother sewed clothes for my sons based on their measurements and mailed us everything.

I never learned to sew but I played assistant to my mother quite a lot and did learn to take measurements properly. I have multiple years of firsthand experience with this model working extremely well.

My only concern is that it may not be sufficient to provide instructions online for how to measure yourself. We may need to look into other options, such as creating a vetted list of seamstresses or having a kiosk where our people can measure you, create an account for you and input the correct measurements.
